Rialto Bridge

The genius will explore what you can pay for!

Of all the bridges in Venice, the Rialto Bridge is the most famous one. It’s one of the four bridges over the Canal Grande, the city’s most important canal. It’s almost 23 meters wide and houses all kinds of shops selling jewellery, glasswork and other souvenirs. The current bridge dates from 1591 and is made of stone, after its wooden predecessor collapsed several times. Couples traditionally hang padlocks on the bridge to seal their love, although nowadays they get removed.
