Savamala

Urban renewal, the urban transition towards urban chic: that's Savamala. It all started around 2008, the transformation of former industrial buildings, mainly warehouses, converted to art galleries, cultural centers, bars and clubs. Public art decorates the dilapidated facades. Graffiti and murals make this a critical component, conducted by local street artists enriched with contributions from foreign guests. Every year during the Mikser Festival, a new mural appears. Savamala is slowly growing from a creative hub to a creative district.
