The Metropolitan Museum of Art, also called The Met, is one of the largest and most important museums in the world. You can easily spend an entire day here and only have seen a fraction of the collection. Ranging from ancient Egypt, African Art, ancient Greek and Rome, Islamic art and photography to fashion, musical instruments and contemporary art. The only way not to be completely overwhelmed by the collection is to choose very specifically what you want to see. And to return as often as you can. Besides the extraordinary collection the building itself is reason enough for a visit. The enormous and stately building on Fifth Avenue, east of Central Park, is as grand as is gets.
Address: 1000 Fifth Avenue (at 82nd Street)
