So many vivid images come to mind when the Principality of Monaco, the world’s second-smallest country, is mentioned: the Formula 1 Grand Prix, huge yachts bobbing around the harbour, the casino of Monte-Carlo, Princess Grace and the Grimaldi family, the historical Old Town (le Rocher or the Rock), mountains dropping into the Mediterranean sea and gigantic skyscrapers housing the mega-rich. But Monaco has so much more going for it – a traditional language and way of life, great food and plenty of attractions that you can visit without ruining your budget. In any case, the city-state certainly lives up to the hype and you will not be disappointed.
