Lombard Street is known as the crookedest street in the world: an extremely steep and extremely winding street through which you can zigzag your way down. This road with its many hairpins and flower beds draws thousands of visitors every year. You can reach this street by cable car (Powell - Hyde route) but many visitor prefer to drive through. If you’re feeling a bit uncertain in your rental it might not be the best idea, but if you’re a natural: do it. It is an exhilarating experience. If you don’t have a car, it’s a lot of fun to watch the cars manoeuvre their way down - not all equally smooth. Anticipate long waits to drive down during peak season. Many are lined up to drive down, but in the end you see most if you go by foot.
