Austrian Hospice

The genius will explore what you can pay for!

It's surreal, but possible nonetheless: ordering apple strudel in the Old City of Jerusalem. In the Austrian Hospice you'll feel like you're in another world. Everything is Austrian. They speak German and there are portraits of Austrian leaders on the wall. In the café you can order schnitzel, goulash soup, apple strudel and Sacher-Torte. On the rooftop terrace, where you sit down, you look out over the Via Dolorosa (Calvary), where Jesus carried the cross to the execution site Golgotha. Now the street is part of the market and it is an attraction for many pilgrims and tourists. To enter you have to press the doorbell of the building. Sometimes it is not heard, and you have to wait for people to leave the building.

Address: Via Dolorosa St 37, Jerusalem, 9762637
