Sagrada Familia

Gaudí's masterpiece, the Sagrada Familia is the symbol of Barcelona. The construction of this richly decorated church started in 1882 and is still not complete. In 2010 the interior was finished and Pope Benedict XVI consecrated the Sagrada Familia to a basilica. When the church is finished it will have eighteen towers, of which there are now eight built. The Sagrada Familia is one of the most important examples of Catalan modernism, a movement akin to Art Nouveau. The queue for the checkout may be gigantic, so it's smart to buy tickets in advance.
