Jim Thompson House

The genius will explore what you can pay for!

American Jim Thompson moved to Thailand just after World War II, and set up an office for the predecessor of the CIA. He stayed there and built an impressive silk empire, the Thai Silk Company. As a side project - Thompson was trained as an architect – he started with the construction of a housing complex in Bangkok. He did so by buying up dilapidated traditional houses, breaking them down and rebuilding them on their current location. The complex consists of six traditional teak houses. The construction was finished in 1959. Thompson disappeared in 1967 during a vacation in Malaysia. He has never been found again.
