Bang Nam Phueng

A lot less hectic and a lot less commercial than the popular Damnoen Saduak is the Bang Nam Phueng floating market. It is not a traditional floating market. There are only a few boats, most stalls just stand on the shore. However, it is a real local market, popular with Bangkok locals eager to get away from the bustle of the the city. Bang Nam Pheung is located on an island in the "green lung" of Bangkok. It is surrounded by tropical forest and a relatively smog-free zone, which adds to the relaxed atmosphere. Try out a hundred different kinds of street food, seated on a simple plastic chair by the water, rather than between the roaring traffic of Bangkok.
