Tipu Sultan’s Palace

The Nandi Hills are located at about 60 kilometres from Bangalore at an altitude of 1425 meters. It is a plateau that is on three sides delimited by 300 meter high walls. This is where Tipi Sultan had his summer palace, a two story building completed in 1791, surrounded by a big garden. The palace is built of teak and has finely carved pillars, arches and balconies. The walls are decorated with beautiful historic paintings. Floral motifs are painted on the wooden ceilings. Inside is a museum displaying art works from the Hyder-Tipu era.
