Bangalore Palace

The construction of the palace started in 1862 on the initiative of the head of the Central High School in Bangalore. In 1884 the palace was owned by the Maharaja of Mysore. During a visit to England, he was inspired by Windsor Castle, which is clearly visible in the Tudor style of the palace. Besides, the palace was ready only in 1942. It was the private residence of the Wodeyars, former maharajas of the state. Retired guides tell the family story with reference to, among other things, family portraits and hunting trophies and let you marvel at the bling-bling interior which is completely over the top. Funny: the area around the palace is now used as a concert stage. Greats like Iron Maiden, The Rolling Stones, Aerosmith, Deep Purple, Elton John and Guns N 'Roses have played here, just to name a few. Within the palace complex there is also Fun World, an amusement park.
