Sri Gavi Gangadha Reshwara Temple

One of the oldest temples in Bangalore is this three story cave temple, dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is not as commercialized as the others. Besides Lord Shiva you’ll find many other extraordinary sculptures of other deities. Try to visit in the morning, when there are regular puja’s (offerings and worshipping rituals). The singing of mantra’s sounds beautifully through the caves and has a calming effect. If you happen to be visiting during the Makara Sankrati festival on January 14/15, you’ll get to see a ray of sunlight shine through the horns of the big bull on the Shiva statue.
