Brussels has a rich history in comics. Tintin's creator Hergé is from the Brussels region. The great comic publisher Le Lombard is located in Brussels. Le Lombard is the publisher of the comics Asterix, Lucky Luke, Tintin and Dommel. In the Belgian Comic Strip Centre - popularly known as the Strip Museum – you can learn all about the history of Belgian comics and discover how comics are made. But cartoon characters live outside the museum as well. A large number of walls in the city is decorated with famous cartoon heroes. There is a special comic route that leads along all murals. Approximately 30 kilometers southeast of the city, you can visit the Hergé Museum, where you learn all about the legendary artist, illustrator, character designer, publicist, caricaturist and storyteller and his brainchildren.
