The neo-classical city gate Brandenburg Gate is situated on the outskirts of the town, at the end of the grand boulevard Unter der Linden. In 1987 the gate made history, when Ronald Reagan, President of the United States, stood at the height of the gate for the Wall and cried: "Mr. Gorbachev, open this gate! Mr. Gorbachev, tear down this wall!".
